‼️How to de-stress: treat yourself to some delicious AF vegan desserts 🤤It’s that time of year again when the daytime gets shorter, it gets colder, it’s peak time for midterms, assignments and essays and seasonal depression hits. Seasonal depression is a real thing and it scares me every time I feel it coming. But, throughout my time here in university, I’ve learned to try and cope with it because what else can you really do right?
3 things that have really helped me get through:
1️⃣ Keeping yourself busy: By busy I don’t mean just school work, cause to me that just adds additional stress. I keep myself busy by working out, moving my body, coming up with new recipe ideas, planning what I want to recipe test when I get home, editing videos and learning about this whole photography/blog/social media thing. I do all of this recipe vegan social media thing for fun and as a way to keep myself busy while being able to share some recipes I really do love. I urge you to find a hobby you want to improve on & love doing!
2️⃣ Having a day where you just CHILL OUT, sleep in, eat good food and treat yourself!
3️⃣ Take on challenges & try new things. I think this ties into keeping yourself busy, but if you set a couple of goals in the beginning of the month/week, work on those goals. For me going into the new school year, it was to branch out more to people. I’m an introvert no doubt and I think thats what I really need to work on so I’ve been ~trying~ to talk to more people. Also, yoga/meditation is a huge on and off thing for me. I’ll stay consistent for a couple of months and then stop. And then want to do it again and stop. My goal was to go to yoga classes twice a week and do it on my own i the morning twice a week and I’ve been able to stick to it since school started (yay me 😂 & s/o to @amandavsevilla & @veggiekins for always being my yogi inspo). OKAY this post was long but I hope this kind of helped any of you that have experienced seasonal depression & anxiety from stress. Plz share your tips if you have any, I think you can never have enough tips on how to ~ be well ~. LOVE YALL AND HAPPY WEEKEND!! ❤️❤️
NEW Beet Salad with Quinoa and a Sunflower Seed Dressing 🥗 not a boring ol’ salads, it’s packed with flavour and textures (I mean look at all the colours this is eating the rainbow am I right 😂)! The sunflower seed dressing is a nice change from my usual tahini dressing, it’s tangy and has a deep rich flavour that balances well with the earthy beets. AND it’s also high in plant based protein from the quinoa and edamame! I’m definitely enjoying the abundance of beets right now and you should too 😁🤟🏻head to https://www.lisakitahara.com/recipe-posts/beet-salad-with-quinoa-and-sunflower-seed-dressing or tap the link in my bio for the full recipe!

Whats your fav nut butter to top your oats with? Lately mine has been peanut butter but almond butter & tahini is also A1 fire sauce 🙌🏻
