When I received my first ever airfryer, all I really made was potatoes and roasted vegetables. Earlier this year, I was going through Chapters and found a book dedicated to air fryer recipes! I wanted to venture out and experiment with what else I could do with an airfryer.

Since then, I’ve made roasted garlic aioli, coffee infused BBQ sauce cauliflower wings, toasted my muffins in them AND made these caramelized bananas!

What I LOVE about this recipe is that it’s such a quick and easy snack that requires only 3 ingredients:

  1. banana

  2. coconut sugar

  3. lemon juice

And maybe some cinnamon for extra flavour. The texture of caramelized bananas resembles a soft sweet pudding. It kind of reminds me of a banana creme brûlée with the addition of the caramel-y coconut sugar topping on top. I also love topping mine off with a bit of fresh coconut yogurt or coconut whip if I’m feeling extra fancy, and a bit of nuts for a crunch.

I am seriously in love with air fryers and would totally recommend having one in your kitchen! This is the one I have, and I absolutely love it (not sponsored BTW). I’ll definitely be experimenting more and finding what other fun snack and meals can be made in the air fryer. Do you own an air fryer? If you do, whats your favourite thing to make in it? Let me know! :)

Tips and Tricks to making Air Fryer Caramelized Bananas

  • Do not use underripe or overripe bananas for best results, use yellow bananas!

  • Other sugars may be used in place of coconut sugar, but coconut sugar yields the most “caramelized” flavour
